Connection, Affordability, & Community
West End Library Housing: Redevelopment of Boston's Public Library West End Branch
Building a Future Where Community, Connection, and Access Thrive
The Project will feature a 12-story residential building above a two-story public library, delivering 119 units of affordable housing. Designed to serve the community for generations, this innovative mixed-use development blends affordable housing, community, and public resources under one roof, creating a space that reflects the West End’s rich history while enhancing neighborhood connectivity and fostering a sense of belonging for all residents, regardless of income or background.
The Redevelopment of the Boston Public Library’s West End Branch Site at 151 Cambridge Street will deliver affordable housing to one of Boston’s most well-connected neighborhoods. Co-developed by Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) and Caste Capital, with design by MASS Design Group and The Architectural Team, this transformative project will reimagine the existing library site as a vibrant, mixed-use development totaling approximately 176,000 square feet.
